the loop
- buy any coin here with SOL. buys go through pump.fun like anywhere else.
- earn pixels on that coin’s canvas, in proportion to the SOL you spent.
- paint them: pick a colour, tap a pixel.
- at 00:00 utc the canvas is snapshotted and becomes the coin’s face on this site.
- fees from trading buy the coin back and burn it, and buy $PLACE.
buying earns pixels
every buy at or above the minimum earns floor( SOL spent ÷ SOLper pixel) pixels on that coin's canvas, capped per buy. sells never earn pixels, and pixels never expire. they belong to the wallet that bought, on that one canvas.
loading the live numbers…
pixels show up a few seconds after your buy confirms on chain, once the server has read the transaction. the big canvas on the home page is $PLACE's, so buying $PLACE earns pixels there.
painting
- sign in with your wallet (a free message signature, not a transaction) to spend pixels.
- there are 32 colours, the same palette r/place used in 2022.
- last write wins. anyone with pixels can paint over anything, including yours.
- every pixel keeps its history: who painted it, when, and which buy paid for it. hover a pixel (or tap it with the magnifier) to see.
- painting is rate limited so one wallet can't flood a canvas in a single second.
daily snapshots
at 00:00 utc every canvas is rendered to a png. that frame becomes the coin's picture on place, in the coin list, on its page and in its share card. the frames stack up into a timelapse on each coin page and in the gallery.
heads up: pump.fun metadata is immutable once a coin launches. the snapshot is the face on this site only. pump.fun and wallets keep showing the launch image.
where fees go
the platform dev wallet is the creator of every coin launched here, so pump.fun pays it the creator fee on every trade. on a schedule, those fees are claimed and split:
- 70% buys back that same coin and burns what it bought.
- 20% buys $PLACE, the coin behind the home street.
every claim, buyback, burn and $PLACE buy is written to the public ledger with its solana signature. each coin page also shows its own running totals.
is money live?
only when the server runs with MONEY_ENABLED=true and LAUNCH_DRY_RUN off. otherwise launches are built and simulated but never sent, fee cycles write dry run entries, and the ledger says “dry run, nothing is sent” at the top. dry run coins carry a badge everywhere they appear.
trades are always your own: your wallet signs every buy and sell, and place never holds your funds. coins are memecoins. only spend what you are fine losing.
